What is The Lonesome Electric Chicken?
The Lonesome Electric Chicken is a time and life wasting application that spews forth a gathering of quotations. That's it. Don't look any farther into it than that.
Currently there are only about 70 quotes in the chicken pile. These are quotations that appeal to me personally, and may not jive with your own individual tastes. Some folks may enjoy them, others will most assuredly not. The Lonesome Electric Chicken is not intended to be a spiritually or morally uplifting application, although you may find it to be so anyway.
Why is The Lonesome Electric Chicken?
Because I have no girlfriend, obviously. And after writing this app, it is highly unlikely that I ever will.

Nevermore.
How do I use it?
Just double click the chicken to launch it. 'Nuff said. There are some options and stuff in the preferences window.

How much does it cost?
Free, of course. Although you can always donate some cash if you want.
Changes:
Version 3.2: Universal binary version.
Version 3.1:
• Fixed issues with OS X 10.4 (Tiger). Fixed some minor interface bugs that were bothering me (text bugs). Some new quote piles added to the Xtra Quotes folder.
Version 3.0.1:
• Fixed a big bug where if the Lonesome Electric Chicken was set to display just the quote text (sans the beautiful chicken), and then the quote text is positioned at the very edge of the screen, upon relaunch the chicken would be somewhere in Vermont visiting relatives (off the visible screen). Thanks to Jackson C. Legate for finding this bug for me.
Version 3.0:
• Support for multiple custom quote sets has been added. Place new sets in "~/Library/Application Support/Lonesome Electric Chicken Quotes". They must be in a property list format (plist) with the extension ".lecq". See the enclosed "Simpsons.lecq" in the Xtra Quotes folder for an example. I will be making a custom quote set editor application shortly. Maybe.
• The quote text color can now be customized.
• You can now pause the quote cycling.
• The displayed quote can now be copied to the clipboard (Edit->Copy).
• The quote display time can now be maxed to 99,999.
• Several bugs fixed, including the window being incorrectly repositioned from launch to launch.
Version 2.0:
• The quotes can be resized (regular, large, extra-large).
• You can now set the transparency of the chicken and quote balloon. This means you can set it so that only the quote appears.
• A new window level has been added, "Desktop picture mode". When set, the chicken acts just like another part of your desktop picture: when in the background, it stays behind everything (even icons), it isn't made active when clicked and will not be hidden when "Hide All" is selected. To make The Lonesome Electric Chicken the active application again (for moving the chicken, changing preferences or quitting), just click on the dock icon.
• You can now move forward and backward through the quotes (the key equivalents have changed to forward and backward arrows). Moving through the quotes manually will not increment the auto-quit or cycle count. In other words, if you have LEC set to automatically quit after 1 quote, you can manually cycle through as many quotes as you want. After you stop cycling, the timer would start up again, and seeing that it went through one of it's own cycles once, quit. Probably doesn't make much sense, does it?
• A ton of minor spelling errors and other annoying bugs fixed (thanks to Lawrence Hargett).
• More quotes from Nietzsche, Joyce, T.S. Elliot (why wasn't he in there?) and Jung added.
• Other interface tweaks.
Version 1.0: Initial release.

Mac OS X 10.2 or higher and an open mind.
Usage:
The Lonesome Electric Chicken is 159% Freeware. Lonesome Electric Chicken may be freely distributed, as long as no fees are collected for it. You do not have to contact StimpSoft™ or the author for permission to distribute this application. Actually, I would prefer it if you just left me alone. Really.
